Kedarkantha Trek lies in the Govind Wild Life Sanctuary and Givind Pashu National Park in Uttarkashi area of Uttarakhand. The drive to Sankri (from where the Kedarkantha trek begins) is a standout amongst the most pleasant drives in the Himalayas through Mussoorie, Purola, Mori, Netwar, alongside the Tons River. Kedarkantha trek is one the most effortless treks in the Himalayas to appreciate thick snow cover. The Kedarkantha trek campground is extraordinary for birding and encompassed by delightful snow tops.

FAQ
Are trekking shoes mandatory for the trek?

Trekking shoes are usually more comfortable and make your trek easier but are not mandatory. Shoes which provide good grip and high ankle support are important.

What all documents do I need to carry during the trek?

You just need to carry and original ID card and a photograph.

Do we get mobile signals during the trek ?

Usually there are no networks during the trek. You may get intermittent signals at some points.

Are smoking and drinking permitted during the trek?

Smoking and drinking is strictly prohibited at high altitudes for your own good.

Do we require a trekking pole during the trek?

Trekking pole provides you extra support during the treks , it helps you share the weight of the backpack you are carrying. You can carry a trekking pole otherwise you can use a sturdy fallen branch on the trail and use it for support.

What is the source of drinking water during the treks?

Usually you are suggested to carry adequate amount of water with you, but even if your run out of water then natural streams , rivers or water springs are also safe to drink water from.

What kind of food is provided during the trek ?

An all around arranged menu appropriate for high altitude treks. Breakfast fluctuates from bread and butter, semia, poha to sandwiches and cornflakes. Lunch essentially contains roti or puri with sabzi. Dinner is finished with Dal, rice, roti. You may carry nuts , biscuits or energy bars  if you wish to.

Can we expect rains during treks ?

Sudden showers are possible as weather can change unexpectedly at high altitudes, always carry a light rain coat or water proof windcheater/poncho.

INCLUSIONS
  • 02 Night Homestay / Guest House / Hotel accommodation in Sankri on triple / quad sharing basis.
  • 03 Nights tented accommodation on triple sharing basis.
  • All Veg Meals from day 1st Dinner to till Day 6th Breakfast.
  • Morning – Evening Tea/Coffee with light snacks.
  • All fees and Permit (for Indians).
  • Basic First Aid Medical kit wit Oxygen cylinder and Oxi meter.
  • Crampons if required.
  • Camping Logistics.
  • Qualified and experienced Trek Leader , Trek Guide and support staff.
  • Transport from Dehradun to Sankri and return.

ITINERARY

Day 1 : Drive from Dehradun to Sankri (6,450 ft)
We will arrange the transport and they will meet you at Dehradun railway station to pick you for long but scenic drive Sankri via Mussoorie, Purola, Mori, Netwar along the Tons River. On arrival set out camp for overnight stay.
Day 2 : Trek from Sankri to Juda Ka Talab (9,000 ft)
After morning exercise we will have our breakfast and start the trek around 8 AM for our next camp Juda Ka Talab. We will camp beside the small pond surrounded by Pine and Oak trees. One can have beautiful views of snow clad peaks from Juda Ka Talab campsite.
Day 3 : Trek from Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base (10,600 ft)
Get up early morning to see the golden glow of snow clad peaks. Post breakfast start the trek to Kedarkantha Peak base which takes around 4 hrs to reach Kedarkantha Peak base. Enjoy hot lunch and explore the area.
Day 4 : Trek from Kedarkantha Base to Kedarkantha Peak and back to Kedarkantha Base (12,500 ft)
Today is a long day trek up to the summit of Kedarkantha peak, have your lunch with amazing views of snow clad peaks of Yamunotri and Gangotri ranges. After spending some quality time at the peak we trek back to nearby camping site at the Kedarkantha Base.
Day 5 : Trek from Kedarkantha Base to Sankri
Trek down from Kedarkantha Base to Sankri via Hargaon on well marked trail by stones. Trek down through thick forest of Pine and Maple trees and at some places you will have open views of beautiful Har Ki Dun valley.
Day 6 : Sankri – Dehradun Drive back
Drive back from Sankri to Dehradun will take around 10 hours which is around 200km
